CBR : ADL/ Home Based Therapy

The children who are unable to attend the special schools are taught in their homes. Presently 172 CP & MR children are given physiotherapy and ADL training in their houses by our CBR workers supported by their parents. As a result their muscles power and motor power have improved. They are taught through reading materials, picture cards, toys and play materials. Their parents and guardians are trained to monitor the progress of the child by their regular visits. Changes in their behavior slowly takes place which is a great relief for the parents. Somechildren have already begun to go to special Schools bringing hope and joy to their parents.

Children's Parliament:
We have identified 330 CWDs in the age group of 5 to14 years from 63 villages of Bargarh, Bheden and Municipality area and formed 8 numbers of Children's parliament in the project area. They have selected their governing body members and they organize meetings once in three months. In their meetings they discuss about children's issues like children's education, relationship with parents, family members and siblings, personal health and hygiene, child abuse, disability rights,problem of school dropouts and other child related problems.

Because of regular meetings, awareness is created on individual hygiene, the need of regular attendance in classes, and other child related issues. Most of the parents and guardians help them to attend these meetings. As a result the Gram Panchayats and other educational institutions are cooperating and encouraging the children. The members of the children's parliament are trying to motivate the parents to reduce the number of the school dropouts.
