Leprosy : Education

Education is the only hope to bring changes in their social and economic life. It will free them from their stigma and release them from their segregated life. We have made serious efforts to impart education to all the children of leprosy patients. Our efforts have brought limited success. All the girls who were studying in different schools got married just after reaching puberty and never completed their schooling. Boys are not much different. Family pressure, strong natural instincts to propagate take better of them. Our efforts however, will continue as we believe the next generation will be better.

Our schools, therefore, continue to admit children of the leprosy patients. Jamurda LP School will remain. We will have to watch and wait as what will happen to Jeera Colony School. After completing Lower Primary education from both the colonies, the children are put in hostel Ashirbad at Ruhunia colony and from there they attend our church school. Once they complete their primary education we put them in the boarding in Madhupur.
